Roses for Connie

The holidays are upon us and as we all know, that means our routines can get turned upside down but in a good way. While my intent for this blog is to journal my plein air adventures, todays offering is a piece I promised my lovely wife (hope I get brownie points for that) I would do for her mother as a Christmas gift. I did this piece in the studio from a nice little arrangement of roses I put together. Despite it's small size, I was pretty pleased with the variety of brush strokes and palette knife work.

It's beautiful Marty! Mom used to grow the prettiest roses in the yard in Pensacola when Stacy and I were kids. We posed in front of them for our Easter pictures every year. Thanks for making Mom such a wonderful son-in-law. She deserves it!
