Today, my painting friend James and I braved the cold (the 40's is cold for us Florida Folks) to return to the same bayou in Millville, Florida where I did my last painting, "Stars and Stripes." This view is of the other side of the water where a few fishing boats dock. It was a mostly overcast day but the sun would come out intermittently. I tried to paint the light on the boats the way it looked when we would get a glimpse of the suns powerful rays illuminating their hulls. James painted this view the last time we were here but the boat on the left wasn't there. I knew in advance I wanted to paint the old fishing boat on the right (the Challenger) after seeing James' rendition of it the last trip. It was a pleasant surprise to find the new boat docked to the left making a composition that was a little more interesting. It looked as though it had just been refurbished with it's bright blue trim sparkling againt the water. A nice contrast to the Challenger with it's look of tales to be told. I'm sure I'll end up in this location again soon. Still more to paint!
